BEA
She was born in Segovia and graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense Faculty (Madrid). After finishing her studies, Bea dedicated herself for a while to both design and illustration. Finally she opted for the second option, attracted by the possibilities to create images with multiple meanings and ”to represent things that surely exist, even if we can't see them". In her own words "illustration is like a fun little second world".
Bea currently lives in Barcelona where she has completed a postgraduate course in Editorial Illustration for Children at the EINA School. She has worked for clients such as Avenue magazine, El Malpensante, Grupo Expansión, The Clerkenwell Post, La Marea, Ardicia Editorial, Martha Stewart Living and CIBC. Among her references we can find illustrators of the stature of Pablo Amargo, Isidro Ferrer, Pep Carrió, Tatsuro Kiuchi, Keith Negley, Nick Dewar or Alessandro Gottardo. Minimalism impregnates her drawings with their own personality and the delicate forms that make up it’s "purely conceptual" style. In fact, she tries to "set herself limits when illustrating" with the aim of "keeping the illustrations clean and direct". Each of the elements plays a fundamental role. Her artworks are a visual puzzle in which each piece flows in harmony.
BEA LIKES: reading until late, petting her cat, eating, cooking, singing badly, making vermouth, September, the beach at 8 pm, Paul Newman's smile, the drawings of the milk when you pour it into tea, rock, cumbia, laughing a lot.
BEA DOESN'T LIKE: undressing, hiccups, going to the hairdresser, the incoherence, the smell of airplanes, not leaving space on the metro stairs, tables that limp, Donald Trump, the cold light, the sound of the vacuum cleaner.
